CELEBRATING OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Each year the International and Canadian CEC recognize the outstanding contributions of CEC members, classroom teachers and administrators, students and others who have made outstanding contributions to special education. We also honor the progress and achievement of exceptional children.


Canadian Awards presented annually:

Teacher of the Year Award
The CCEC Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a CEC member who currently provides direct service to students with exceptionalities.

Donald Grant Warren Outstanding Achievement Award
Individual, group or organization for outstanding contribution to the well being of exceptional children and youth.

Dr. John McIntosh Chapter Award
To a CEC chapter in recognition of its outstanding activities during the preceding year or over a period of years.

Joan Kershaw Publication Award
Individual or group who have published an article, report or book about exceptional children.

Sam Rabinovitch Evaluation or Research Award
Individual or group who have completed an evaluation or research project concerned with exceptional children.

A. David Treherne Special Education Policies Awards
School board or publicly supported policy-making body in recognition of special education policies.

The Canadian Outstanding Student of the Year Award
Student chapter with the largest percentage of membership growth.

Media Award
Presented to a person or group of persons who have promoted greater awareness of exceptional learners and/or CCEC.

The CCEC awards 2 scholarships of $750.00 each. The scholarships are to support individuals who will be pursuing post secondary education and/or careers directly related to working with students and youth with exceptionalities.
